What are the exact properties of the two different types of source footage?

Is there more footage in one format that in the other?

What do you intend to do with your finished edit ( post on-line, make a DVD, etc.)?

I don't recall saying it did?

Then you were suggesting using iMovie to transcode the files?

How would you do that?

What are the advantages of using iMovie over Compressor, which is included in the FCS apps?
