Q: Why is Apple Support Communities website not iPhone responsive?

Just wondering why the new redesign of Apple Support Communities is still not responsive for the iPhone.

I mean, come on, you guys invented the iPhone, yet you can optimize your websites to auto fit the iPhone screen.

How many years ago did the iPhone come out?

How many years has responsive design been used to accommodate different screen sizes?

Just try using this site on an iPhone and you'll see how annoying it is.

Just trying to be helpful.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

Ok, how about a quick overview of how to save a file in stylish.

OK.  Got my stylish account set up.

Sure got me.  Looks like there is a {} mismatch in my published style sheet

    1. Go to https://userstyles.org/
    2. choose "Login"
    3. Pick a method
    4. This gives you a new set of choices
    5. Create New Style - OR - choose one from already posted
    6. the editing page is pretty self-explanatory

    Too fast for me, amigo

Your "Adjust ...." is already there in couple of ways - NoBadges is the latest

    They BOTH are extremely dated.

Your newest is basically "YOUR STEW" seasoned to YOUR TASTES

If I were to publish something for public consumption, I would want

    • EXTRA MILD
    • MILD
    • SPICY
    • EXTRA SPICY
    • FLAMIN' HOT
    • etc.

versions - if you get my drift

In a perfect world, you would create "side dishes" that could be combined to taste by individual users in Stylish at runtime (check all that want - UNcheck 'em at will)

UserStyles.org does NOT do iterations like User tips here. It WILL know when a change has been made and present the consumer with an UPDATE button where a new consumer would see an INSTALL with STYLISH button.

I personally hate that, but I am not a consumer, per se.

It  appears that Stylish is a bit more forgiving than userstyles.oorg publishing

It probably ignores the error instead of failing completely

I got userstyles.org to accept the style sheet.  Is this the right link?

    Yes.

Now I think we were gonna test what it does on my Android fone?

Gimme a few... man about a horse again.

It did put out a warning when I checked. Probably should do warning when I save.

I'm a bit surprised it works as well as it does.

This is an interesting idea. It would be awhile before I could examine the idea of splitting the css in to more granular portions.  There are three main implementations already.

    -- TuringTest2 minimal

    -- Hiroto's

    -- combined

It might be better to try to make the code work in more browsers than Firefox.

I'm working on a separate header style sheet.  In this way I'm attempting to adopt the idea.  I need to figure out a plan for moving the date above the first post.  What I first tried I didn't like.

Once I get the css mods squared away, I going to look at writing some javascript to move the page navigation.  I'm tired of having to press the end key to get to the navigation.

Apple has revealed that they want to make smaller changes on a more timely manor.  This means patching the css.  I have not read of any changes to the UE design by Apple.

    With NO pinching

in general, not a pretty sight - but not too bad either, if you prefer FLAT discussion view (which I do not on my computer)

These are pretty close to scale for my fone at my favorite zoom for FF = 2 "+s" from no zoom

    Screenshot_2016-08-03-16-08-37.png

Threaded view is a HOT MESS, but i fear it would be no matter what
(it gets a LOT worse than this)

    Screenshot_2016-08-03-16-13-37.png

My Content/Participated is jumbled up a the top, but passable in the list proper

methinks a VERY long row to hoe (hard job) to make this PERFECT, but could be done - but I dunno why you, Hiroto, tt2 or any other user would want to tackle it - iOS does NOT allow Stylish or any other add-on!

Again, with only tt2's Minimal (which NOW only really kills the floating banner behavior) it is not too bad - NO pinchiing

Thanks for your efforts.  Was interesting to see how the css worked on a small screen.

I do not think it would be that hard to make significant improvements.  A lot of work is identifying what css to change.  All of the css has been identified. [ figuring out what css changes do what can be a pain.  Well commented? ]

-- Need to move the avatar above, as it is now.

    -- Smaller title font

-- You might need to change the html to fix up the title page.  I don't use any of the stuff in the title are.  You could x it out in my view.

-- go to two lines in the list panel.

Threaded view would need some customized html.  Maybe some type of outline to show the indents with bigger box of the text below

For a professional/business effort, you would have to alot more time to get less done.  Probably 6 months of debate and 6 month of work to make noticeable improvements. Of course, you could easily use up 4 person years on a professional effort if you didn't want to do anything.

    ...Minimal...

Minimal's stuff is 85% adopted by Apple's last go round - I tweak the FontSize a little, Hilite color to WINE, rely upon it to kill the floaty thing

Hiroto has already done that on THREAD pages. I never get past page 1 of any forum I favor anyway - I look for the Highlighted titles and run out long before the bottom!

I have heard that too.  There is really not much for me to complain about... I got used to it 2 summers ago and am well on my way to complacency with this one.
