Q: Why is Apple Support Communities website not iPhone responsive?

Just wondering why the new redesign of Apple Support Communities is still not responsive for the iPhone.

I mean, come on, you guys invented the iPhone, yet you can optimize your websites to auto fit the iPhone screen.

How many years ago did the iPhone come out?

How many years has responsive design been used to accommodate different screen sizes?

Just try using this site on an iPhone and you'll see how annoying it is.

Just trying to be helpful.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

Believe me, I know how stuff floats around in front of your eyes when you have a solid grasp on the "names" of things ... it's like knowing the names of your laying hens, your horses, your cows and all your dogs.;)

You can see all the stuff in your mind's eye as a finished  product!

Point is, APPLE has to do it because ya can't LOAD into an iOS device!

Enough folks need to complain that ASC does not work LIKE the REST of APPLE web pages. They have certainly opened their kimono about why ASC is like it is now - to MATCH Support pages' style guide

That a little recursive since they are the support pages.

Actually, the jive app in your link is free.

    System Requirements:

    - Requires Jive (cloud edition) or Jive Custom (6.0.3 or higher)

    - Cookie based SAML SSO is supported.

iPad - Official Apple Support is a Support Page

Using iPad is a discussion page

BIG Difference in content and intent - but they are meant to "resemble" one another in style

Problem is that design for different purposes may NEED to be different "look and feel" - Apple is all about "standardized" across AppleWorld.

A magazine and a catalog have the same aim - get you to buy something - but look and feel are very different

We can talk about this 'til blue faced... we ain't gonna solve iDevice issue

Well ASC isn't following them. Notice the nice color for a button.

    & That's a marketing page no matter what Apple calls it.   & Apple's a big company now ... .

Guess their developers have more weight.

HOST of the Jive Install pays per user for the add-on service that let's the free app connect

I had the pricing page nailed down once... it eludes my search efforts right now

As I recall it was NOT at Jive, but rather "reported" in an article - Jive pricing is by individual quote, a sales tactic for "young companies" in my experience (meaning, they don't want their customers knowing what other customers are paying)

    {chuckle}

I am not sure the meaning of that blue, but rest assured that it has a reason, maybe even mandated by Jony Ive!

IMHO, the support page is a well crafted trail of breadcrumbs that leads the visitor through all the options that Apple wants them to try before the visitor gets to the bottom of the page - ASC 2nd to last and your Big Button LAST - human contact as a last resort is Apple goal

    ASC uses black buttons.

    {chuckle}

The singular distinction between the two?

Is it possible that "blue button" signifies "Contact Apple" in whatever way for whatever reason - BUY or Support? Your guess is as good as mine. It would not surprise me if that was one of Apple's "unheralded"  standards from the Apple Style Guide (a real document - Google it)

    Apple Style Guide

"A customary manner of presenting printed material, including usage, punctuation, spelling, typography, and arrangement."

It's the common writing style guideline. Nothing to not much about designing User Interface.  See table of contents. I read it a while back.

I looked over the page you referenced.  I suspect that the ASC designers missed what the guideline implies.  Clear and crisp presentation of information.  You can see how clumping of information is used.  The ASC designers missed this. The designers concluded it was all about lots of white space.

The only one I know of "in the Public" is here (OLD) > https://help.apple.com/asg/mac/2013/ASG_2013.pdf

I have not been through it thoroughly, and haven't looked at in over a year - but I would bet $$ that it covers everything that Apple "publishes" in any form - from 'fine print' ON a product label to a billboard, and everything in between. Certainly the 2016 would cover any online stuff - including Twitter & Facebook. Apple is nothing if not THOROUGH!
