Q: how to backup in this situation

Hello together,

I urgently need your help.

The iphone of my girlfriend got damaged by water.

With some "rice"-drying-therapy i managed to make it boot again.

The problem is, i cannot backup the data on the phone coz no usb connection is possible anymore due to the water damage.

I really need to backup the data.

I cloud is at the moment no option coz we do not have access to the account.

(security questions have been created years ago...)

is there the possibility to host an ftp-server or something like this on the iphone and connect it with wifi and share / backup the data in the local area network.

thanks in advance!

you can try and recover the iCloud password from here

    https://iforgot.apple.com

otherwise you should shut down the phone and continue allowing it to dry so if the adapter is not physically damaged it can be used.

Apple recommends you use iCloud or iTunes to backup. any 3rd party solution can be found on the web via a web search, as for the validity of the content it is entirely up to you discretion.

If you cannot access iCloud to backup there, and if the charging/COM port is non-functional, there is nothing you can do now to rescue the data on that device.  There is no other means to access the data for backup purposes.

If your iPhone is one with a fingerprint sensor and you have/had a screen lock passcode setup on it, don't bother with any 3rd party data recovery service.  Your data is encrypted so no such service can do anything for you but retrieve still encrypted gibberish from your device.

    thank you.

I can access the iphone. its booting, i can see the pictures, use whatsapp, and so on.

My only problem ist, that i am "disconnected from the backup possilibity".

    no icloud

    usb connector broken.

the phone is up and running.

I just need an online workaround for getting the data.

for sure i can send 1000 pics to whatspp friend...but i need something more efficent

For photos, in addition to the Apple options, Google drive, Dropbox, Amazon Photo. I've also used a service called PictureLife. You may need a paid subscription in some cases but a months subscription to any cloud service would probably be well worth it.
