Q: Erase a partially setup iPhone 5

I started the setup process on an old iPhone and then decided to not go further because I no longer have the sim card.  But I had already put in a wifi password and it seems that I am not able to erase it or reset it without a sim.  Any ideas?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.3.3

Just put it in recovery mode and restore as new in iTunes.  Of course, you cannot activate it at all without a SIM so all you can do is get it back to the initial setup screen and turn it off.

Plug it in to your computer and launch iTunes.  Then, once recognized in iTunes, press and hold both the power button and the home button and keep holding them until you see the restore screen or see iTunes has identified a connected device in recovery mode.

Thanks!  I had thought that I had done that, but following your instructions did the trick.  Thanks again.
