why is there no select all button for podcast?

Every once in a while, a podcast I subscribe to "refreshes" and gives me old episodes of a podcast I've already listened to (30-100, depending on the pod). Why is there no "select all" button on the Edit menu so I can select more than one podcast at a time and mark them as played?
