Q: Computer freezes connecting to new wifi account

Hi All,  I am traveling and am connecting to different wifi networks all the time on my Mac book pro. Tonight, my computer freezes every time I try and connect. My systemservuerUI always goes "not responding" along with "finder". My computer was working fine yesterday... Any ideas?

    Hi Tanner211,

Thanks for checking out the Apple Support Communities! I understand that your MacBook Pro is freezing when you try to connect to a Wi-Fi network. I use Wi-Fi all the time to connect my MacBook so I can understand wanting to make sure this is working properly while you're traveling and I'm happy to offer some suggestions.

If you're able to, I'd recommend trying to connect to any other available Wi-Fi networks to test. If it's happening while only trying to connect to this particular network, there could be a problem with the network you're trying to connect to. The next step that I suggest to try is to start up in safe mode. This will prevent some apps from starting up as well as clear some caches that can cause issues with freezing. Here are the steps:

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up

If you're still having trouble after that, I recommend to try testing out this issue in a different user account on your MacBook Pro. This will help you narrow down if there's a problem with an application or file in your specific user account. You can find everything you'll need for this here:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

    Cheers!
