Q: MagSafe adapter "L" and "T" type
Good evening,
I am a very happy owner of a MacBook Pro 15-inch medio 2009. Yep still working after 7 years. At least it is doing better than the MacBook Pro of my little brother from 2011 which broke down right after the warranty expired and my iMac 27-inch which is now gathering dust in a spare bedroom and is in fact a very expensive sound beeping device, but I digress, these are different stories altogether.
I want to talk to you about the MagSafe adapter. Today my second bought adapter was starting to do the on-off-on thingy. As you can probably guess this means a broken cable. Right at the spot where the cable meets the adapter. So no I need to buy a new adapter, repair my old one or find a second hand replacement on some market. Probably the ladder of those three. I was not planning to buy a new adapter through the Mac store as they are not exactly cheap (especially when you need to buy a new one every three years). As a side note I just want to add that I always roll the cable such a way that there is no stress on the connection (just make two coils, one for the power cord and one for the connector cord). I dont use the added clips on the adapter as I personally feel that you bend the connector cord to much and that this will only shorten the lifespan of the cable. I hate those clips really.
Please fix this problem. I am not the only one with this problem. Just make a connection like the power cable!! So its possible to disconnect the cable altogether. This way we only have to buy a new cable every three year (together with a new cable for my iPhone!). Maybe make it a package deal?
The second thing. When I bought my mac I had the T-shape adapter. I loved how the cable would snap off when someone tripped over the wires. The connector would snap off at every angle so that was also perfect. This moment I have the L-shape adaptor. When I attach this to my mac with the wire going backwards (as I usually do) the wire will not snap off directly when pulled form the back and any direction from back and going clockwise. So the Mac is getting pulled before the wire eventually snaps off.
So... thats it. Ow I almost forget. The plastic feet came of just after warranty also haha. Further still a happy customer. I mean...7 year old laptop and still doing better that most of the newer cheap junk I see everywhere. Except for gaming that is... I play indie games now, mostly
Mac Book Pro 2.66 Configuration, Mac OS X (10.6), Grey ?
