Q: iCloud Photos hiding some of my photos after i have deleted them

Hi everyone. So the problem is that a long while back (2 years ago) i had some photos on my iPhone that i deleted from my Photos app and that was the end of that. At that time there was not even a Recently Deleted option in the iPhone Photos App. I used Photo Stream at that time and then upgraded to iCloud Photo Library when it was released. I have been using an iPhone for quite a long time (4-5 years) and just recently switched over to an Android phone. So started importing my iCloud Photos Library from my Mac to the Google Photos Application. I have only selected Apple Photos Library as the source in Google Photos and im absolutely stunned to find that Google Photos is also apparently importing some photos that have been deleted from my iCloud library from 2 years ago. I cannot find those photos anywhere in the Photos App on the Mac and not even on icloud.com. All those tall talk from Apple and their **** executives about privacy and stuff. Why are they keeping my data when i have deleted all of it. They are not even displayed it anywhere in their services but instead another app is importing it from their services? What are my options? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3.3

The likely explanation is that the photos were indeed deleted after the Recently Deleted Album was introduced in iOS 8 in September of 2014.

There was apparently a glitch with the aging off process, so that although it appeared that the photos were permanently deleted from the Recently Deleted album after 30 days, they were, in fact not. We had several threads at the time with people finding that the amount of memory being taken up by Photos did not jive with what they actually had.

The "fix" was to set the Date and Time back to August 2014, and then to go look at the Recently Deleted album. Some people found hundreds of photos that originally appeared to have been aged off that were, in fact, not.

Apple addressed the issue once it was discovered, and the fixed it. However, depending on the timeframe and the number of photos deleted during that time, it is possible that they would show back up during the import.

    Best of luck,

Not that I am aware of. However, you could try to go to System Preferences>Date & Time, set the date back to 8/1/14 on the Mac. Then open Photos, and open the Recently Deleted album to see if they show up there. Not sure that would do it, but seems like it would be worth a shot.

If you don't see a Recently Deleted Album in Photos, delete a photo. That will cause it to display under the Albums group.

    Cheers,

One other thing about Photos. I am using it now even though I still have iPhoto and Aperture on my Mac. One of the best things I have found in Photos is the ability to add extensions like Snapseed, Sketcher, FX Photo Studio Pro, etc. It basically provides you with all of the editing capabilities along with the Editing tools that Photos provides:

Edit your photos using third-party extensions in Photos for OS X - Apple Support

Just thought you'd like to be aware of that alternative
