How do I clear my safari browsing history?
iPhone 6s
on an iPhone c cell phone., from the bookmarks you click on the history it opens to the history (second photo) on the bottom but it's grey shaded. It won't allow me to click on it to clear the history on it. How in the phone settings do I remove the block to clear the history. On the bottom it shows the CLEAR button but when I click on it, nothing happens. The word clear is completely shaded in grey unable to clear.
Safari -> History -> Clear History…
If you only want to clear your history but not delete your cookies, hold down the Option key and the last entry under Safari -> History will change from Clear History… to Clear History and Keep Website Data…
TThank you but I should have been more specific. It has a clear grayish color over the history. as if it had a block over it. It will not allow me to clear the history at all. can you give me step by step on how to remove the block Please?
First make sure your Restrictions (Settings > General > Restrictions) are not set to keep you from deleting the history. Safari should be under Allow (green). Then: Close Safari completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Safari preview pane until it disappears from the screen. Then go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. Then do a forced restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
You can remove it from Library. Click on Go button at the top with Alt (⌥) key pressed -> Library -> Safari -> remove History.db file. Before doing it you need to quit Safari.
Let me apologize profusely for the advice I gave above; I didn't notice you were on an iPhone rather than OS X.
Sorry for the misdirect.
