Aug 4, 2016 1:07 AM in response to seventy oneby FHBrian,Yes, I've tried everything suggested. I've even gone in and deleted the preference for the first MM2 (plist). I've shut down and rebooted; I've shut down and rebooted in "single-user mode," I've run diagnostics. Nothing works. According to Finder "Bluetooth" a MM2 is paired but not connected but the status bar icon says it is connected and has a 60% charge.

Aug 11, 2016 1:08 PM in response to seventy oneby seventy one,★HelpfulI have to assume you've removed the first mouse from the Bluetooth list. And in doing so, any settings you made for that should be unrelated to MM2.
Just looking for excuses but your profile under your post name says Yosemite 10.10.1. You claim to be running El Cap 10.11.6. Are you sure of which? Could you recheck in About this Mac? And the mouse *1 referred to in your screen shot; what version is that and why is it there?

Aug 11, 2016 1:10 PM in response to seventy oneby FHBrian,I haven't updated my profile, but I'm on El Cap. And you were correct, the problem wasn't redundant mice and but that the second MM 2 was 'broken' and I'm assuming the first was as well although it wasn't tested at the Mac Store.
The second one was tested before purchase (they don't like to do that by the way, they want you to buy first, but did agree finally with some prodding to open a new package) and it didn't work right there either. Sounds like a bad batch because the current (third) MM 2 they got from the storeroom (?) instead of off-the-shelf is working.
