Q: Macbook Pro Retina color distortion

Hi guys

I have a Macbook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

Processor - 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory - 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics - Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Version - OSX El Capitan, version 10.11.6

About a couple months ago, I started to realize that my computer's screen color would turn algae green around the colors (especially obvious when displaying dark colors) upon waking up. The green color is not a solid green but more like a layer of green that disappears after a couple minutes. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and could this be a software complication?

    Hello blacky321,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. It's got to be a bit distracting when the color on your mac isn't quite right, and I'd like to help you get that resolved.

Whenever we see an issue like this it's a good idea to try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac. The SMC helps regulate and control the different hardware systems in your mac. Resetting it will not delete any info from your hard drive and is pretty easy. Check out this article for the steps to reset : Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

If you're still having the same issue after doing the SMC reset, then the next thing about be to run Apple Diagnostics.  This article gives the steps on how to do that: Using Apple Diagnostics

If you run into any trouble, or if you have any questions, the entire community is here to help.
    -Best Regards-

    Hey Ulexes138

Thank you for your suggestion, I ran the Apple Diagnostic test and found related to my display that was "wrong". Could this be a hardware issue?

    Hello again blacky321

It's very possible that the issue may be hardware related at this point. What we'd recommend doing from here is finding your nearest Apple Retail Store, or Apple Authorized Service Provider. They will be able to examine your MacBook and determine if the issue requires repair or service.

To locate your nearest Appel Store or Service Provider you can use this link : Find Locations

Have a look and if you have any questions, we're here to help.
    -Best Regards-
