- System Preferences > Network > > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
- Select the troublesome Wi-Fi network in the Preferred Networks window.
- Click on the minus "-" button to delete it.
- Click on OK
- Go back to the Wi-Fi tab again.
- Click on the plus "+" button to add a Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the name of the network that you want to connect to in the Network Name box.
- Choose the appropriate wireless security type in the Security box.
- Enter your wireless security password in the Password box.
- Click on OK.

thank you very much for your reply! Unfortunately it's the same afterwards: The network shows up in the System Settings, in the Finder menu, but I can't connect to it from there. Can I send you some log?

Aug 5, 2016 12:33 PM in response to Peter R.by Tesserax,So that I understand your response ... you can find the TC's Wi-Fi network in System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi, but can you see it on the Wi-Fi icon drop-down menu?
... and if you can see the network, can your Mac connect to it?
... and by Finder menu, do you mean that you can see the TC's drive under Shared in the Finder window?
In the image above, my Time Capsule has been renamed to "TC" and this is how it appears in the Finder window.
