Notes App: Bugs present

There is no fix to this other than to have the software people address it. This is not a question. It's a bug report. (FYI: It should be easier to report a bug than this was. I realize that some may not know if they are witnessing a bug or their own misunderstanding, but for those of us that are clear on that, I'd just have a button that said Report Bug and have a decision tree following that to classify it a bit without going overboard.)

When I open Notes (the Apple app that comes with the iPhone preinstalled), after closing a note and NOT pressing "Done" prior to closing the app, the document is opened part way down the page. I then have to scroll to the top of the note.

The second bug follows entering a new line the first time I use the app after opening it. If I dictate the line on a new line it then moves that line up to the end of the prior line. This is all happening repeatedly.

I have NOT yet installed the new version of IOS because I generally like to wait a week to be sure any obvious bugs have been addressed.

I do not work for Apple. I can not speak for Apple. Having said that, here are my opinions.

Neither of the two behaviors you observe are "bugs". Here is why.

The first behavior you cite is that if you stop using the Notes app without pressing "Done", the note opens in the same position it was when you left the app. This is normal and expected behavior because you only suspended the app (and the note itself), as you might have done if, for example, you needed to open some other app (e.g., Safari) to check a reference before inserting some additional information into the note. And, as you mention, if you really wish to return to the top of the note when you return to the Notes app, that is easily accomplished by simply pressing "Done" before leaving.

The second behavior you cite is that when appending an existing note using dictation, the appended text appears starting at the end of the previously existing line. This is also expected behavior. Just as you have to say "period" or "comma" to add punctuation when dictating text, you must also say "new line" if that is what you wish to see.

Finally, if you have comments that need to be addressed to Apple, there is a straightforward way to do that:

I appreciate your response.

1. It does not restart from the place I left off. It jerks down to another position far below that. I just opened the app, typed a return and it went down to the bottom of the page. Just another example of the jerky behavior of this app.

2. You misunderstood the scenario. I hit return to get to the new line. When I then DICTATE a word or phase, it is placed on the PRIOR line.

3. Thanks for that link. Apple should make it easier to report bugs directly IMO by posting a bug report link prominently.
