Q: iPhone 6 plus searching for signal, antenna error?

Hi Community!

There are a few topics out there, but it seems my problem is a little bit different.

I have an iPhone 6 plus and a few days ago I lost my mobile connection. WLAN is still working, but there is no signal at all.

What I tried before:

Everything written here: If you can't connect to a cellular network or cellular data - Apple Support

- Restarting

- New Carrier-Settings (Telekom 24.2)

- Upgrading to newest iOs (9.3.3)

- Replacing with a different SIM-Card. My Sim-Card works in other phones but not vice versa - so it is definitely not an SIM-Card Problem (The Phone checks my SIM-Code, so the SIM-Reader should be working, too).

I even did a factory-reset, but there is still no signal. Due to the WLAN-Connection, the date-error, that was mentioned in some other discussions, was no problem either. Date and Time is correct.

The phone was NEVER opened, no replacing of the battery or something like that. But the little switch for muting and unmuting the phone is not working well (sometimes its "muted", even when the switch is clearly on "umute").

For me it seems there is some problem with the Antenna or ... i don't know. It would be great, if someone could help with some other idea, how to resolve this issue!

Thanks in advance and a lot of greetings from germany!

Hi hamsterfan, you have done a very thorough amount of work already. Did you do a Restore as New as described below? If that does not help then you likely have a hardware issue and would have to take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Also import your photos to your computer and copy all important data if possible. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:

If the above steps do not help, you may have to have it tested at an Apple Store.

    hi elcpu,

    thanks for answering so fast!

Unfortunately I tried this before, too. After resetting the phone, unlocking the SIM-Card and in the "welcoming-process", before deciding whether to restore from a backup or use as a new device, the phone shows "no signal".

I will try to restore it again (for the fourth time :/) and use it as a new device. Backups are made, so nothing bad can happen.

Thanks again and have a good day! I will report, if there are new (and hopefully positive) changes.

A restore as new is the only option. Good luck.

I have this issue, which arose shortly after a software update in August. I've tried a complete factory re-install and every other suggestion online. I took it to my cell provider and they told me that they've had a wave of these complaints in August for iPhone 6. Apple Store told me it was a hardware issue, without saying what that issue was. I've owned Apple products in my lab and my home for over 25 years. I'm extremely disappointed in the decline of Apple product reliability over the past several years. Unacceptable for such premium products.
