How to hook up old Fatar SL880 mid-keyboard directly to a mac?

Hi everyone,

I have inherited an old Fatar SL880 midi keyboard. It has no USB port, just two midi-outs. I'd like to hook it up directly to a mac and getting it working with some sounds. Does anybody know how to do this please?

Thanks for your time,

Richard

Also, i notice that there are several USB to MIDI adapter cables on the market, such as...

...but i'm not sure how to use these. What's more, i notice that this cable in particular goes from a USB port to a midi out coupled with a midi in. So in my case, presumably, that would leave one cable head dangling unused - doesn't sound like that would work, does it?

early MIDI was a daisy-chain of possible failures. Of the two outs only one (theoretically) needs to be used to send the data out.

as for midi transmitting anything other than MIDI data and controlling another sound source that's what this cable does, for instance you could connect it to garage band, pick a pack in garage band and the keyboard will trigger that patch in the key and velocity you select, but If you are trying to record just the sound of this thing by itself (or in unison with the external garage band patch) you need to use the audio output, not the MIDI.
