Q: Macbook Pro (2014) not charging despite orange light when plugged in

If you have local Apple store, take the machine in for assessment.  There is no charge for this but you need to book an appointment.   The first thing I would check would be the cable.  Do you have another machine to test this with.

I does sound like the battery needs to be replaced.

When you go in Power in the system report, can you check the Cycle Count and the Full Charge Capacity?

Open System Information>Power and post this from your MBP:

Make certain that the charger is connected.

You omitted the charger information.  Aside from that, the battery, though 'normal' has seen a lot of use.  If you have enough power left, you may also try an Apple Hardware test:

Note than an error free AHT is not conclusive.

The charger may be faulty.  Test is on another Mac or test another charger if one is available.

It could be the DC input board is faulty.

Though possible, but least likely, the battery may need to be replaced.

Check the connections on the charger and the MBP for dirt, debris and discoloration.  The charger connection pins are spring loaded.  Make certain they move freely.

Seventy one has given you good advice.  Do make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and they can sort it out in ten minutes.  The evaluation will be FREE, any required repairs will not be free, but you will know the costs involved.
