Accountsd wants to use the "Local Items" Keychain

Hi - thanks for "unlocked" info but does not address what "accountsd" is and why it's asking for access to our keychains?

The mis-spelling and randomness of it is suspect. What's that about?

Sierra update 10.12.3 seems to trigger "accountsd" to prompt for the password every 24 hours.

Good for security, but quite an annoyance.

I use different passwords for the Logon keychain and the main system password - this is now becoming painful, but it means additional security should/when I loose my laptop.

Your login keychain should be unlocked when you are logged into the computer. If you have other users, their keychain will be locked. If you lock it, applications like Mail will be asking for your password overtime it checks for new items.

The other user account keychain as well as the system keychains will be locked. Only the account logged into as well as iCloud keychain if you are using it should be unlocked.

"Accountsd" is part of the computer frameworks. For an account such as Mail to access your email server, it needs the password for the account. Keychain stores the password so you don't have to input it every time you access mail. If you don't give it access, you will be prompted for passwords every time you open and app such as Mail and each time that app accesses the server.

All these answers are OK as far as they go, but how do I unlock it? I have no clue since I don't remember locking it in the first place. It just started happening after I installed Sierra so i may have inadvertently clicked something on login I didn't mean to click. But I don't know how to undo it.

Your user password should unlock it unless you've changed that.

I enter my password every time I begin using my MacBook. And I still get asked later for that "accountsd".

I get this question every morning when I log into my macbook (Sierra 10.12.1) connected to our company network.

I have to enter the local password of the machine, not the network password, to make it go away. It's really annoying.

I also have accountd asking for my "iCloud keychain" or "local keychain" every day now. I'm not sure what triggered it or how to make it go away. Entering my password doesn't stop the same message from popping up later. What is going on and how can I resolve it?

I have the same problem - FYI there is no "first aid" selection in Sierra, so that won't work!
