itunes installed, but not there

I bought a new computer - desktop PC, Dell, Win 10. I installed iTunes, then tried to sync my iPhone. I got the message that there was a newer version of iTunes, and I took the usual steps to download and install the updated version. But after 2 tries, I kept getting an error message (did not screenshot or note it, so I can't remember what it said). I was able to find info on the error, and instructions said to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Uninstall went fine, but 2 attempts at reinstall go through all the motions but at the end, I click "Finish" and cannot find iTunes anywhere it should be. There should be a desktop shortcut or it should list in the "Apps," but it's not there. I have no error messages, and am at a complete loss. I need to figure this out quickly so I can sync my phone and attempt restore some pics I accidentally deleted before they are gone forever (whole other topic)!

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2

The general troubleshooting advice when iTunes fails to install properly (and reinstalling or repairing it does not work) is to remove not only iTunes but ALL related components, reboot, remove the target installation folders and reinstall. Here is the procedure from turingtest2's excellent iTunes for Windows Troubleshooting Guide:
