What works for me, under Mavericks, is to right click on the day I want.  From the pop-up I put in the name of the event (and sometimes the location).  In the block that talks about time of day and alarms, click "Repeat" and then chose how I want it to repeat.

    Good luck

    Thank you!

I searched the help for calendar under ‘recurring’ and ‘periodic’.

It turns out that ‘repeating’ was the magic word to seek.
