Aug 10, 2016 9:53 AM in response to Old Toadby lookattherain,Ok, yes, I did that. It still hangs when processing the slides show, sometimes with 7 minutes left, and once with three, it was almost done, but hung.

Aug 10, 2016 1:10 PM in response to lookattherainby lookattherain,I decided to create a very simple completely new project with no music, and three very short slideshows, completely different pics then the other project. It also hangs when it encodes the slides.

Aug 10, 2016 3:19 PM in response to Old Toadby lookattherain,I almost always use "soft frame", and did for the first and second projects that failed. The last simple test one I used "modern".

Aug 16, 2016 9:21 AM in response to lookattherainby lookattherain,I've given up on being able to create .img files with iDVD. The last two projects just hang while encoding slides.
Last night I tried to burn and older .img file to a DVD. First, Disk Utility has changed in El Capitan. I found help on how to do it with Finder, but the DVD wouldn't pay in our PS4. The PS4 said it was an unsupported format.
I read about Toast on another string here. Does Toast burn .img files to DVD?
Does it also let you burn iMovie files (which I think can be slides shows)?

Aug 19, 2016 1:21 AM in response to lookattherainby lookattherain,I just bought a brand new $2,000 iMac, loaded iDVD on it.. tried for hours to make a DVD, after spending hours making the DVD, of a friend, who recently died...
It hangs on my brand new $2,000 iMac while processing the slides. I promised his sisters I would make them a DVD for the funeral. This is truly horrible.

Aug 19, 2016 8:40 AM in response to lookattherainby Old Toad,As you know iDVD has been unsupported and discontinued for 4 years or so. Try using an older, non animated theme. Some of the newest themes have problems with El Capitan.
There are a number of free video DVD authoring apps at the App Store that can make a simple video DVD from photos. I would strongly suggest going that route for the time being until you can work out the iDVD issues which can be formidable.
