Archive Utility: Temporary Folder?

Hello,

Where is the "temporary folder" when "extracting" from an archive using the Mac Archive Utility?

Does the archive utility always use same folder for temporary extraction, say, for example when extracting a file on a network share? I had an issue while extracting large .zip files, the Archive Utility crashed, where would the extracted temporary files be to possibly clean up?

Look in these folders at root of the drive...

/private/tmp

/private/var /var

I doubr rge temp file will help, I'd try Tje Unarchiver...

Thanks for the link.

I couldn't find anything related to the file in the tmp folders or var folders that I was trying to unzip, so it seems that nothing temporary remained.

In /private/var and /var would the temporary extracted files just be at root?

No, there is nothing relating to the failed extraction in the trash. I think there were no temporary saved files or nothing remaining. The extracting was done directly on a network share in this case, would the temporary folders still be same ones above?
