Importing burst photos from iPhone to Photos: See every photo in the burst

I'm just trying to understand if what I'm seeing is the default behavior. I'm in Photos, with my iPhone selected in the sidebar, looking at the New Photos pane. A burst photo shows *all* the images from the burst. To import them, I need to select them all. This can be awkward when I have multiple burst photos to import: There are hundreds of burst frames to sort through, mixed up with the regular single photos.

What I would prefer is to see burst photos in the New Photos pane as single photos, making this pane less cluttered and hence easier to decide which photos I want to import. Is this possible?

If you setup your Photos library like this

and your iPhone like this:

User uploaded file

importing of the photos and the burst photos into the Photos library on your Mac will be automatic when the phone and Mac are both connected to WiFi.

The burst photos will be be displayed in the Photos, All Photos and the My Photo Stream windows like this:

User uploaded file

There's no connecting of the iPhone to the Mac required. It's much easier than doing it manually.

Hi Old Toad: Unfortunately I prefer to not have them uploaded automatically, because I like to decide which photos to delete from my phone after uploading them, which I expect can only be done manually.

What's a bit surprising is that burst photos appear as single photos (with a hint of the others behind the front one) on both my phone, and in Photos once downloaded. But in the New Photos window of Photos they are shown as individual photos.

Perhaps this is so that I can peruse them and decide which one is the best. But I've found that the differences between the individual photos is so small in many cases (when the subjects aren't in motion) that I can't tell which is the best from the small thumbnails. I would prefer to see them as one burst photo in the New Photos window, download them as a single burst photo, and then decide which one is best on the Photos app, where they can be made nice and big.

Is this default way of showing burst photos in the New Photos window the only option then?
