Q: Mac Pro exit's standby every time with BenQ XL2720T

I've connected one BenQ XL2720T display to my Mac Pro. When this display is turned on it prevents the mac from staying in standby mode. This is what happens:

1) The mac puts the display in standby mode after a few minutes. (The led on the display turns red)

2) The mac enters standby mode.

3) The display looses the video signal and wakes up, displaying an error message.

4) When the display wakes up the mac seams to handle this as an "Plug in display" event and exits the standby mode.

This game can run for hours. The only way to prevent it is to manually shut off the display. Is there maybe a way to disable the "Plug in display" event? (As seen on this page About standby on your Mac - Apple Support)

Mac Pro (Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

I've connected the display using a DisplayPort cable. I've now connected the display using an HDMI cable. This seams to work better. Is there some way to get this to work with the DisplayPort too? (I only have one HDMI output and I want to connect multiple displays)

Dunno..maybe you can mess around with Eco Mode/Energy saver mode on both the Mac and the monitor...I'm presuming that DP 1.2 is enabled . Haven't found much on using this monitor with a Mac Pro at all. I do know that the current monitor I'm using, which is a Dell, occasionally, I'll have to unplug and replug the power cord before it would recognize there was a video signal there and come to life, not as much with 10.11.6, but still once a while....

just a shot in the dark, I guess....

I've now also tried an Display Port to DVI adapter. This doesn't wake up the mac, but the display comes into a indefinite loop. It shuts down, then wakes up again displaying that there is no connection an then shuts down again and so on. I think this is a firmware problem of the Benq monitors. Sadly there is no firmware update from Benq. Maybe I can submit a bug report to Benq to fix this problem.
