Q: Watch and iPhone both show connected but still unable to communicate
I have a very frustrating problem with my Apple Watch. It frequently is unable to communicate with my iPhone. The My Watch App is the first to show signs of trouble. If I try to check for software updates it swill time out and say "Unable to check for update". When this happens I am also unable to enter the passcode setting in My Watch. Ping from the watch thinks it works but the phone doesn't make a sound. As time goes on more functions stop working like notifications and incoming phone calls stop showing on the watch. However, both the watch and phone show that it is paired and connected. I have tried every combination of rebooting both phone and watch. I have un-paired/repaired the watch numerous times. I restored it as a new watch after restoring from backups didn't help. I have restored the phone also from backup and as new. Each time the watch works well for a day or two and then starts failing in the same way. The watch was a Christmas present last year so, it almost 8 months old and has never had this kind of problem till the last couple weeks after the last iOS update to 9.3.3. Help!
Apple Watch, Other OS, watchOS 2.2.2 and iPhone iOS 9.3.3

I may have resolved the issue as it's been 5 days without and Bluetooth or connectivity issues on my Apple Watch. I have reboot by watch and phone as well as restored both from backup and as new several times. Although I had tried these steps before just not in this order. First I unpaired the watch from my iPhone while it had a good Bluetooth connection. To make sure sure I had a good connection I rebooted the phone and watch until I was able to reliably have My Watch app communicate with the watch. This is easiest to verify using the My Watch-> Passcode. If the options are grayed out , or muted in color, you do not have communication to the watch even though it may show connected. After the unpairing in this known good state the watch should wipe itself and end up at the pairing screen. I left the watch in this state and then restored my iPhone from the most recent backup. After the iPhone was restored I immediately paired it with my Apple Watch and did an "as new" install. Since I did this 5 days ago I haven't noticed any delays in communication between my iPhone and watch. The watch also unlocks with the iPhone like it should. Previously it would seldom unlock with the phone in the morning and I had to manually enter the passcode even though it was set to unlock with the phone. Notifications have also been very quick and I haven't noticed any instances where my watch doesn't indicate and incoming call.
