Very strange, but the (cmd+W) function doesn't work on my machine all of a sudden. I've switched out two keyboards incase it was the W key, but all other short cuts work. I've restored defaults in the keyboard system preferences, and no dice...Any suggestions?
It is happening in more than one application and the finder, optioncommandW is working.... to close all windows of an application, just not a single window and say...tabs in a browser.
Time to dig deeper. Have you tried this with everything disconnected from the USB bus? Plug only the keyboard and mouse into there own ports on the Mac and see what happens.
Well, tried the last suggestion and it didn't work, but logged in as another user and it works fine...so it's narrowed down to the something in my user and in the system, not related to a specific keyboard. I deleted the universal preference and finder preference and no dice...still not working... Thanks for your help.
Thank you for your help. Actually figured it out. Logged in as another user and it worked again, so I narrowed it down to a thrd party application: You Control. Now it's fixed. WOW it was incredibly frustrating. THank you for your help.
