Q: How do I verify my Exchange account when it keeps telling me it is unable to do so?

I have been trying for so long now to verify my Exchange (Hotmail) account, but it keeps telling me it is unable to. I have Tried deleting it and re-adding it but that doesn't work either. I know people have said to save the account despite this, but it doesn't even give me that option. I know all the information is correct as I am able to sign on to the account online. What can I do? (also it doesn't appear to be an issue with connectivity either).

    Hello sciszer,

I can understand how important having your Hotmail account added to your Mac may be to you. If you have successfully signed into this account online you may need to check the POP/IMAP settings to allow email clients like your Mac Mail app access to the account. For further assistance, please visit the Microsoft support page here. Microsoft account help

Once the webmail settings are adjusted, you should be able to setup the account on your Mac without issue. Also, when adding Hotmail.com email accounts, choose "Other Mail Account" in the Mail menu instead of Exchange since Exchange can be a whole set of permissions needed from an IT admin.

And you may want to check about upgrading to OS X El Capitan: Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Have a great day.
