My ipad2 screen shows itunes logo with a symbol of the charging cable with an arrow pointed toward the logo. I have tried to reset but it will not work. Any ideas?

My ipad2 screen only shows the itunes logo with a symbol of the charging cable with an arrow pointed toward the logo. I have tried to rset and the apple shows up momentarily then disappears. I have tried connecting to itunes on my laptop with it and it says that it cannot update or restore. Any ideas from anybody?

The graphic is not indicating that you should reset but rather that it needs to be restored. To do that connect it to your computer and the restore it using iTunes on your computer.
