Q: The back up disk could not be found (Timmons?)

Time Capsule (802.11n 1TB).

iMac (Yosemite 10.10.3, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3)

Time Machine was having a problem completing a backup. I realized my hard drive space was nearly full. I deleted some large files, moved a large image folder to a new LaCie 2TB external HD. Removed a LaCie 1TB external HD from the Time Machine back up rotation and added the new LaCie 2TB to the rotation. TM has completed to full backups to the LaCie. But nothing to the Time Capsule.

Wifi is working. Green light is on. I can see the Time machine in Airport Utility and there are no error messages there.

I have restarted the mac, modem and TM.

This is old but may still apply: AirPort Time Capsule- Time Machine backups may not mount; "Backup volume cannot be found" may appear.

I have a few suggestions.

Let me start out that any 1TB TC is old.. it has to be 5years or more now.. that puts it in the category of could die tomorrow. It is good you have the LaCie external drive.

1. Reset the TC to factory.

2. Erase the TC hard disk.. do a full one pass wipe of data so any issues on the disk will show up.

3. Names are important.. your naming is poor.
Short, no spaces and pure alphanumerics.. <10 characters for names.. passwords the same but 8-20 characters.

4. Make sure IPv6 is set correctly.

5. Make sure the Mac is directly connected to the TC.. not via another router.
