Q: TERRIBLE POSSIBILITY: iPad Cameras Working Without Me Knowing?

Hello everyone, I know that it may seem strange for me to be asking another privacy related question, but this is a serious issue for me. The issue is that there's no way for me to "block" or "disable" or "turn off" the cameras on my iPad Mini 3. I only install apps from the official Apple iOS App Store and I also check the background of particular apps before I install them on my iPad Mini 3.

My worry is that I could be being filmed without me even knowing it... How can I set it so that my iPad Mini 3's cameras are 100% disabled?

My friend's tablet device has a little black cover that he can use to completely cover the camera so even if the camera was turned on it would just film the black cover.

My point is subtle, I suppose...

These demonstrated vulnerabilities are why folks are "afraid" that their Macs & iDevices are vulnerable too.

After all, the FBI WAS able to crack the San Bernadino iPhone eventually, weren't they (? or so they claim?)

With all due respect, to you and to AppleFineFolks, vulnerabilities in Apple (and all) OSes and certain apps are revealed all the time - else, "security updates" (like iOS 9.3.4) would be unnecessary. [ About the security content of iOS 9.3.4 - Apple Support ]

Alas, the world in which live is a scary place sometimes.

I watched the video link you referenced. It was quite odd to me, the way hysteria and privacy fears are being shoved down our throats. The video was nonsense. The point was made that several popular flashlight apps collect and relay user information to 3 countries: China, India, and- cue the scary music- Russia. Come on now. You're not that gullible are you? Even the host ( Bret Baier? )looked like he was suspicious of the "cyber expert" goon guest. Think about these observations: 1- the "research" he did "revealed" only the users of Google Play apps were "at risk". Not Apple. Not the AppStore apps. 2. His "team of experts" traced the sent user information to those countries because app developers live there. What does that prove? It's not a secret. It's right there on the apps info and detail page. No secret. No team. No deception. 3- the apps users can choose to agree or not before installing or opening the app. This doesn't infer any crime or malice. Right? 4- my final observation is of the unaswered question that was asked to the expert- if he had reports or complaints from users involving this issue. None. Just more yada yada...oh ex please.

For me, it was telling the way he skirted that one. Don't be fooled by a "security" expert ringing his big bell, warning us about our allies and partners. People, don't let this slick message of non crisis fool you.

The solution is simple go to settings go to restrictions create a restriction password, After your in disable camera and save it . That should fix it or you can save all your data in an icloud backup and reset your ipad.
