Where should I recycle my old iPad?

You can always drop it off at any Apple Store and their recycler, BrightStar, will take it. They will not reimburse you anything for a damaged device, but they'll take it and recycle the materials. Bestbuy also has a simple drop off option for electronics recycling.

There is a lot of recycleable material in any electronic device, including toxic materials such as the metallic lithium in the battery. Nobody should want that in their trash landfills. And many of the rare earth metals used in solid state electronics are very expensive materials at the best of time. Recycling helps keep costs of new consumer electronics down.

What's the big deal about taking it to Best Buy or one of many other retailers that will recycle it? Do not put it in the trash and do not put it in you home recycling bin. Goodwill also will recycle electronics.

At the Apple Store or BestBuy perhaps, if they take it. Try it and see. If not there are many other recyclers available online. Erase all of course.

It depends on your location. You can Google for electronic recyclers and see what comes up close to you.

I would definitively not throw it in the trash. That is bad for the environment. Do like Michael said.

Sell it on ebay. Be honest and state all the problems.

Don't know where you live (please don't tell me) but most large cities do not allow electronics in their recycle bins, only approved items.
