Why was Command I disabled in iBooks.

I have tons of PDF books/documents which Command + I was a useful tool in editing book/document information. Today it is a labor intense process (select – click – entry each field. Mostly the documents opens for viewing not just the on screen line info and requires multi tries before it opens for editing)?
