Q: why would the low power mode indicator come on if my 5s was charging all night

If the battery indicator is showing more than 80%, try to force restart the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.

You will not lose data, but this can clear some glitches after installing new software.

Then check the Low Power Mode again.
