Q: Internet issues on Wired vs Wi-Fi
My online speeds hit 36Mbps consistently with wired and wireless. But, when I am browsing or watching videos on YouTube or Netflix, the system always stalls and buffers on the wired, cat5e, Gigabit connection to my Lynksys 1200+ Gigabit router. I have set the adapter to configure Automatic, 1000baseT, 100... and so on.
I can not watch HD videos with a wired connection and web pages/searches are sluggish, I have to disable the wired connection and use Wi-Fi. The Cat5e cable has been tested to work at full speed on other systems. I have no issues with Windows PCs on the same wire and same port, or any other port for that matter. It makes no sense that I need to switch to Wi-Fi to watch videos or browse.
I am using DHCP for wired and wireless connections on this iMac so there are no differences in the settings. I am sure there is cure for this. I have seen other treads that have similar issues with wired connections but no solutions. Any solutions?
iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), Cat5e cable/Lynksys AC1200 Gigabit
