ipad connectivity

My Ipad2 all of a sudden won't charge. I've switched cables, etc and still wouldn't charge. I turned it off, then on, and connected it to itunes. My ipad screen shows connected to itunes, and itunes showed it connected. When I connected it showed that there was an update, so I clicked to update. Then notice came on that here was an error updating. So I clicked on "eject Ipad". So now my ipad screen still shows connected to itunes, but itunes shows no connection.

Is it safe to just unconnect my ipad when ipad screen shows connected to itunes ??

Hello lisha45,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with your iPad is not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you are unable to charge or connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer. You can safely unplug your iPad from your computer, and then I suggest following the steps in these articles to help resolve your issue and get your iPad working again:

Cheers!
