Q: iPad stuck at setup after newest update and requires a passcode (that I believe does not exist)

I've updated my ipad 3 to the latest version since apple kept spamming me with update notifs and open to setup asking for some unknown ~10 digit number/letter passcode. It's like 1am right now and I have read so much discussions for help so I am p ----ing tired. My ipad was unlocked before the update and suddenly requires a passcode that I do not know off.

-I have tried my apple id password + other possible passwords and that got me locked out 15 minutes.

-I have tried itunes restore ---connecting to itunes twice on two computers and the ipad still wakes to the same thing after the restore+ update (setup requiring a password)

-I have tried find my iphone to erase the ipad (ipad has no wifi therefore it cannot erase)

-I have tried hard reseting (hold the sleep+home button etc.)

-My ipad cannot sync to itunes since it requires the device to be unlocked

I tried literally everything apple recommended and nothing seems to work. Anyone got any device or yt videos that can help? I have watched several but none help since 'slide to setup' only brings you to 'enter passcode'.

I'm not under apple care so is it still possible for me to ask apple to help me unlock the ipad? No, I am not willing to waste money to buy a new one because this one is still functioning.

Thanks

iPad, iOS 9.3.3

    This is highly unusual.

As explained here under "Set up a passcode", the default length for a device passcode is six digits.  The default used to be four digits, which is still possible to request.  The unusual path is to request to use a custom (length) numeric code.  The highly unusual path would be to use a custom (length) alphanumeric code, which is what you said is your situation.

Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

So I suspect there's much more to your story.  What else should we know to help you?

    • Are you doing this while attempting to update iOS?  Or something else?  If so, what else?
    • Did someone else own this iPad before you?  Might that person have failed to release the iPad from Find my iPad?
    • Have you shared Apple ID with anyone?
    • Has someone used your iPad that could have accessed Settings > Touch ID & Passcode?
    • Are there restrictions on the iPad?
    • Is there a backup of the iPad?  Is it on iTunes?  iCloud?  If iTunes, is it encrypted?
