itunes could not backup the iphone because there is not enough free space

i need to backup my iphone because i want to send it for repair (because my iphone has some weird white lines on top and the screen isnt responding sometimes...). but i don't know why i keep having this error, i have changed my old hard disk drive to an ssd but it is still the same error... does anybody know how to fix this? thanks in advanced...
