I have several movies purchased from iTunes, but only one shows up on my apple tv; the others only show up on my mac. How can I make all purchases show up on my apple tv?

Check with Hide and unhide iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store purchases - Apple Support in case the past purchases are somehow hidden. In iTunes the Get Info > File tab can be used to confirm the Apple ID used for a particular purchase.

It seems that these movies were mysteriously refunded shortly after they were purchased. The result is they still appear on my Mac, and I can download them to another device or pipe the playback to the apple TV, but can't download them from the cloud. Odd, but unless it becomes annoying I'm not going to change things. Possible unscrupulous mischief makers could take advantage of this loophole, though...
Do you have any parental controls set on the Apple TV.
Are the moves you see on the iPad and Mac downloaded or are they in your purchase history.
Have you tried signing out of the account and back in again.

Movies show up in My Movies, but not not in Purchased. the missing movies do show as purchased when I look in the my account history. Only the most recent purchase appears on all devices.

When you report an issue with downloaded content, e.g. wrong item delivered or accidental purchase, for example, Apple cannot reach into your computer and take whatever was delivered away. It is taken on trust that the report is genuine, but Apple keep a record of the number of requests made by each user. At some point users may receive a warning that subsequent purchases are full and final and that no refunds will be offered. This prevents abuse of the system.

Could you have purchased SD movies, but have set your resolution preferences to HD.
Don't think so: all movies show as HD, protected mpeg 4 files. Since I purchased the older movies some time ago, is it that perhaps they pre-date apple TV?
The Apple TV has been around for almost ten years, are you saying the movies were purchased before that, I'm not 100% sure but they may not of had 1080 movies back then.
No, just trying to figure out why these purchases are being treated differently. Guess I'll have to question Apple directly.
