Q: How can I migrate photo and video files from an old Apple Power PC G5 to a Mac Pro OS 10.11.6 computer?

I'm looking to migrate photos and video files from an old Apple Power PC G5 to a Mac Pro OS 10.11.6 computer. The hard drive has been removed from the older Power PC (due to logic board failure) and I'm looking to salvage the old files from this drive. Logic tells me to install it into an external hard drive enclosure and proceed with the transfer via USB to the newer Apple OS computer. My concern is: Will the newer OS system be able to read these file off the old drive. Anyone with history on such a maneuver? Suggestions, anyone? Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance.

yes, the new mac will be able to to read the old macs HD, getting a USB enclosure is all you need.

I've even connected on old G5 tower to a new mac via target disc mode and mounted the HD directly to the newer mac just link an external drive whilst it's still inside the G5.

The G5 uses the same drive format as newer macs
