Canon D530 Drivers

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X El Capitan. I have tried downloading the drivers for the Canon D530 printer/scanner both from the Apple site and Canon site. On both occasions, when I try to install, the system seems to be stuck "verifying" and will not install and not move past the verifying point. Please help.
