Q: How to sync old iPod Touch data to iPhone 5s?

So my brother-in-law wants me to sync all of the songs from his iPod Touch 3rd Generation (which the latest update to it is iOS 4.1.2.)  to his iPhone 5s (which was just updated to 9.3.4)  As far as I understand in order to do that, he would have to completely erase his device. It seems like "backing up devices" and "Restoring devices to factory settings" is not (sarcastically speaking) my forte and I am just so overwhelmed. I want to do everything I can to help. Does anyone know of a way to sync old Data from an older Device with an older iOS software to a device to a newer iOS software without erasing an iCloud account? Like does anyone know of any 100% Free third-party software I could use to achieve this? Please Help!

iPod touch, iOS 4.2, 3rd Generation

Just what "data" do you want to sync?

I suspect the iPod is really a 2G iPod since those can only go as high as 4.2.1. The 3G can go to 5.1.1.

You can recovery music from the iPhone to computer wit the free iFunbox computer app. Then sync to iPhone.

An Apple device can only sync with one computer. To change computer yo have to restore the iPod on the other computer. Also note the backup does not included synced media like apps and songs.
