Q: moving mail app [new SSD]

I just bought new SSD, fresh installed the same version of OS X (10.9.5) and some obvious stuff [movies, downloads, documents] from my old drive, but not full account with the migration assistant. I still do have bootable old drive in an enclosure and also time machine backup. Both are readily available.

How do i best copy/transfer all Emails and filters & settings for mail app? I do have the original the Library folder (7 GB). I do not know what needs to be be copied to transfer all and every settings, drafts, attachments, etc...for the mail app.

Thank you.

OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    Hello ufolog_goro,

The only viable options are migration assistant or relying entirely on iCloud. Any other option is going to cause problems somewhere - if not Mail, then Message, FaceTime, Handoff, etc.

Since you have noted etresoft's warning, try this.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

    Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/Mail. Enter Time Machine and restore that folder. Then restore Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Next, restore Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent. Restart the computer and test.
