Q: Personalising 3D Titles

I'm working on a Star Trek Documentary and I need a little help with the logo.

I'm completely 100% new to Final Cut Pro, I've only had it one day.

I've used the Atmosphere title and layered the Fade 3D over it as you can see in the attached picture.

Once the titles have moved into place the whole thing immediately fades. Is there a way I can keep them there and still have the globe spin? So basically I want the titles to pause for a few seconds but not the globe.

Once I've achieved this I'd also like to have the text zoom into the ''camera'' how can I change just the text using Ken Burns without it also moving the globe?

I hope I've explained it well, any further details needed just let me know.

Thanks so much

One method is to delete the text in the Atmosphere title then drag it to the length required or a little longer.

Then export/share the title only, matching the specs to that of the project.

Import the spinning globe footage and use that as the background.

Add the titles connected to the spinning globe clip.

You may find that animating with keyframes is more versatile than Ken Burns as far as zooming etc. is concerned.

    Hi Al,

I deleted the text from the Atmosphere title then added another but without the background so that's now fine.

I've now decided against the idea of having the text fly into the ''camera''.

Instead I'd like the text to pause for a few seconds then fade. At the moment, the Atmosphere text disappears as soon as the letters are in place. I'd like it to stay there then fade out.

Thanks so much for your help.

I've added a cross dissolve to the text so I've managed to the fade. Now I just need to work out how to make the text hold for a few seconds.

The following is for the Basic 3D title.

Selecting NONE from the Text Tab>Animation Style should give a basic dissolve:

Select Tumble Zoom Up for the zoom effect:

Rather than adding cross dissolves try opening the Video Animation.

Select the titles clip and hit Control-V or do a right click and select Video Animation.

If you hold the Option key on the Opacity line you can add keyframes as desired to control the opacity.
