Macbook Pro Storage -- Audio

I moved most of my MP3 and Audacity files to an external drive and have only 14 audio files in my Mac, which add up to 253 megabytes. However, "About this Mac" shows 60.1G of my storage is used by "audio." What is taking up so big space? My trash bin is empty and so is ~/Library/Caches. How can I eliminate the mysterious "audio" and get more space in my storage?

That display that you are referring to cannot be relied upon to be accurate due to a big in the program that generates it. Sometimes, but not always, a Spotlight reindex will correct it:

For accurate information, download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes.
