Q: what happens when you uninstall Safari Extension

What happens when you uninstall a safari extension? Is there still remaining files ? For instance, if I uninstall adblock, will there still be files of it in my macbook ? What could I do to completely delete it in this scenario ?

There are several items you can manage in your Safari browser; extensions, add-ons

and other settings that can help keep your browsing experience & Mac safer. Some

of the ones that give people some grief are associated with unwanted adware, malware

and other items that may become attached to your browser while online.

The above is a support article about how to manage extensions. If you have some that

happen to affect your browser that were not added or turned on by your choice, you may

choose to remove or uninstall them. Some of browser dysfunction that may appear to be

a virus or other item could be the result of several additions to your Mac OS X (or iOS)

those may require additional steps that may not be covered in the above article. This is

not to say that other software would be required; no anti-virus would help.

menu, then click the Extensions ... MacPriceCut, SaveOnMac, Mac Global ...

You could see what additions are still in effect, after shutting down Safari and then restart

it with extensions-off; then clear browsing history. Some items stay in the browser until

you clear those other possible items.

Why do you need to know what happens when Safari Extensions are uninstalled?

That may reveal circumstances which may lead to additional helpful replies.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your quick answer. I wanted to know if there is remaining files, because you gotta hate it when you delete (ex: Microsoft Office) and you find out that there is tons of remaining files on the Library. Any ways we can check on that ?

Where applications with system modifiers involve add content to your Mac OS X,

their uninstallers should be able to remove their parts; manual removal of valid apps

where you needed to supply your Admin User (password/account) usually requires

more effort than simple extensions in a browser.

Microsoft Office is among the class of application suites that requires their uninstaller.

Applications usually have a folder where their additional installer parts are kept, so

that would be in the Applications folder to see if the Uninstaller specific to that brand

of software has one. Most quality items that required an Admin Password have one.

Sorry that I've no easy explanation - except it's near 1AM night - & I'm going offline now...
