Aug 8, 2016 6:26 AM in response to ThuDucManby Csound1,You can use 16GB if you buy decent RAM, OWC and Crucial will sell you decent RAM
Apple state 8 because when your Mini came out in 2011 chips for 16 were not available.

by chance do you have any connections or affiliations with the company selling the RAM - OWC?

Aug 9, 2016 3:41 AM in response to Csound1by ThuDucMan,1) How about buying the RAM made by Team?
2) Why then Apple did not update their specs for that model of mac mini?
3) do you have any connections or affiliations with the two companies selling the RAM - OWC and Crucial?

Aug 9, 2016 6:29 AM in response to ThuDucManby macjack,1. I know nothing about Team, but I checked against crucial and it seems Crucial is cheaper.
2. Apple does not update their specs, the specs are the specs coming out of the factory. In fact, Apple does not support 16 GB.
3. No one here has an affiliation with either OWC or Crucial. ( I wish I did!) It's just that they are the most reliable vendors with the best guarantees and most of us use one or the other for our hardware. FYI Crucial seems to be cheaper for an 8GB stick than Team.

Aug 9, 2016 6:56 AM in response to ThuDucManby JimmyCMPIT,I have absolutely no affiliation with OWC/Mac Sales other than I used them in the past.
They were knowledgeable and helpful and I had a fantastic customer experience with them, otherwise I would not bother to add my recommendation as well.
