Zero-Out SSDs

Hello.

PLEASE return the zero-out ability in the disk utility for SSDs. I don't care how much Apple reassures me that that isn't necessary, I'll feel a whole lot better. And don't tell me that it's not possible, no one online would agree with you. For a touchy-feely company, I can't understand why you'd get rid of a utility that added piece of mind to your customers' experience!

Thank you for listening.

because it was flawed to begin with.

Elvis showed the world you could shut off a TV with a handgun, however the advent of the remote control showed how flawed his method was.

If you insist you are on to something the developers overlooked go here

www.apple.com/feedback

Otherwise it's not as safe as you think it is and the methodology of 1 and 0's to read a drive is long outdated as a forefront method of extracting data from an "erased" drive in the field of data forensics.

Will. Not. Happen.

Zeroing out SSDs will dramatically shorten their lives and cause premature failure. No company will risk having loads of reliability issues under warranty caused by something like this, which is unneeded by 99.9% of regular users. If you work for the CIA/MI5/KGB/Tijuana Cartel/etc. and need to cover up your tracks, destroy the device instead. Read up and educate yourself on how these things work before stating that "no one online would agree with you".

And one other thing: this is a user-to-user forum. Apple does not listen here. If you want to say something they listen to, use the feedback links at the bottom of the page.
