Q: how to get out of AP mode Express

HI having big time problems connecting to LAN ports in apartment from Direct TV. They said the Extreme is is AP or Bridge mode and needs to be out of it. I tried resetting  to yellow blinking light,no luck

iMac, os x el capitan 10.11.5

    The advice from DirecTV makes no sense at all. If you take the AirPort Express out of Access Point mode, it will no longer produce a wireless signal at all, so wireless devices will not be able to connect to your network.....assuming that you are using the AirPort Express to provide your wireless signal.

    Not sure what this means. Are you saying that you have Ethernet LAN wall ports installed in the apartment?  Does the DirecTV DVR connect to the LAN wall port in the apartment?

     

    How does the AirPort Express connect to the Internet?  Does the AirPort Express connect to an Ethernet LAN wall port as well?  Or, does the AirPort Express connect to a modem?
