Q: Watch turning off during long runs
I wear my watch and carry my phone on all my runs. I use the activity tracker on my watch, I listen to music through BT on my phone and also use a third party activity tracker on my phone. During runs (the longer the run the more apt this is to happen) sometimes my watch shuts off. Sometimes this means that the face just goes dark and won't respond to lifts or taps for an indeterminate amount of time no matter how much I lift, tap or swipe. The face just remains completely blank. Sometimes the face then comes back and it's fine for the rest of the run and other times the watch then reboots. All is fine after the watch comes back. If it reboots I have to restart my activity tracker on the watch. If it just starts working again without rebooting it acts as if nothing happened. I have the most recent software on both my watch and phone. I bought the watch when it first came out so I have been wearing it over a year. This problem has only started within the last few months.

Hi
Your watch certainly should not be behaving in that way.
If you have not yet done so, it may help to update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software, starting with your iPhone:
- Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- Update the software on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
The following further steps may also help:
- Restart both your iPhone and your watch:
- Close all open apps on your iPhone:
- Double-click the Home button, then swipe up on each app preview to close it.
- Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first;
- Close all open apps on your iPhone:
- Unpair and re-pair your watch:
- The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode).
- Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone - Apple Support
- Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support
