External Hard Drives Showing Up as Internal using Hub

Hi there,

I have 4 external hard drives plugged into my Macbook (recent version)...I had been using a 2.0 USB hub but

went for the 3.0 USB hub this weekend (such a difference!)

This hub, a Targus...has 3 ports on one side and one port on the other.

The hard drives plugged into the 3 ports show up now as internal hard drives (silver icon on desktop).

The one plugged into the solo port on the other side shows up as external (orange icon).

Anyone know why this might be? Everything seems to be working ok, but...

I haven't. I thought maybe someone else experienced this with a USB hub, Targus or otherwise.

yes i encounter exact same issue its an elcapitan issue, as its a non issue on yosemite. pity my mbpr came with elcapitan

NOTE: i tried two different brand hubs

i wrote to targus and they got back to me saying

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for your enquiry, unfortunately the answer is no.. the ACH124 model was manufactured before the release of the El Capitan operating system, which we have not released any new driver for since. At the moment there are no plans for Targus to release a new driver for the El Capitan.
